New Updates for Our Brazilian Community
As part of our ongoing commitment to user safety and to align with Brazil’s new legislation, known as Digital ECA, we are rolling out a series of updates and enhanced controls tailored specifically for our Brazilian community. These changes are designed to help families guide their child's experience while ensuring we continue to deliver positive, age-appropriate experiences for everyone.
Enhancing Parental Controls and Default Settings
Roblox provides parents with a suite of controls to help guide their child’s experience. Learn more about the parental controls Roblox offers here. In line with Digital ECA, these controls, along with additional account and privacy controls are available to parents of users under the age of 18 in Brazil.
Additionally, Roblox provides users under 18 in Brazil with specific default settings graded by user age, including default-on “do-not-disturb” during typical sleeping hours and updated, age-appropriate communication defaults. Global age checking requirements for access to communication features still apply.
Policy Updates for Paid Random Items
In Brazil, users under the age of 18 are ineligible to access paid random item mechanics. To access paid random items, users in Brazil must have age checked as 18+. Also, we require that creators use Roblox’s built-in tools to make sure paid random items are not available to underage users. Games with paid random items that declare in our Content Maturity Questionnaire that do not use the PolicyServiceAPI are no longer playable for users under the age of 18 in Brazil. Roblox conducts audits of games to detect and take action against non-compliance or inaccurate declarations.
Reporting Children or Teen’s Rights Violations
If you’re in Brazil and would like to report children’s and teenagers' rights violations under the Brazil ECA, you can do so here. You can find guidance here on how to report illegal content, such as content that may violate children's or teenagers’ rights.
Content Ratings & Maturity Settings
Roblox uses content ratings and maturity settings to help families and users in Brazil understand which experiences are suitable for different age groups. Users can also see the platform’s age rating on the web download page for desktop, and when installing the Roblox app from mobile storefronts. Roblox will be introducing additional controls for content and communications for players under the age of 16 in Brazil soon.
