It is your responsibility to ensure that your advertising content on Roblox adheres to the Roblox Terms of Use, all applicable Roblox terms and policies including the Roblox Community Standards, and all applicable laws and regulations. This includes hiding all advertising content from users under the age of 13, among other requirements. Different jurisdictions of users who may see your ad may have different requirements for advertising that may require you to do more than what is expressly stated in these Advertising Standards. You are responsible for understanding and following all applicable laws. Violations may result in actions against your account, including but not limited to account suspension or ad campaign suspension.
Advertiser Integrity
Those who are acquiring advertising space on Roblox (“Advertisers”) are expected to act with integrity, including but not limited to, adhering to the following requirements:
Ad Transparency
- Advertising content design must not obscure or interfere with required disclosures in a way that makes users believe they are engaging with non-advertising content.
- Advertisements must not make deceptive or unrealistic claims about the products or services they represent, including offering free Robux to entice engagement.
- Advertising content must not mimic system functionality or confuse the user with iconography that replicates buttons, notifications, or options that are non-functional.
- For Roblox Immersive Portal Ads, the advertising content must not mislead users about the destination of the Portal.
Advertiser Platform
- Advertisers may not attempt to upload malware to the Roblox Ad Manager.
- Advertisers may not provide false identification or payment information to Roblox.
- Advertisers may not make fraudulent refund requests or dispute payments for services properly rendered.
- Roblox may suspend ad campaigns or advertiser accounts for non-payment of services properly rendered.
Intellectual Property
- Advertisements may not violate the intellectual property of others. Roblox will remove infringing content upon receiving a valid Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notice or Trademark infringement removal request.
- Roblox may suspend ad campaigns or advertiser accounts for such violations.
Directing Users Off-Platform
- Ads may not contain URLs, partial links, QR codes, or in any other way transfer a user off of the Roblox platform.
- Ads may not encourage users to share links to external sites.
Language Support
- At this time, Roblox Ad systems allow advertising content in the follow languages:
- English
- Roblox may reject ad content containing non-supported languages.
Publisher Integrity
Developers who are inserting advertising units in their Roblox experiences (“Publishers”) are expected to act with integrity, including but not limited to, adhering to the following requirements:
Ad Fraud
- Publishers may not leverage bots or large scale ad engagement campaigns to draw undue ad revenue. Such activity may result in suspension of ad delivery, of the targeted experience or of the participating user accounts. Roblox may also revoke payout related to fraudulent impressions or traffic.
- Publishers may not misclassify experience metadata (e.g., genre, experience guideline rating, etc.) in order to deceptively increase ad delivery to users of the experience. Such activity may result in suspension of ad delivery, the experience, or the publisher’s account access.
Ad System Abuse
- Publishers may not include advertising content as their fallback content when Roblox does not deliver an advertisement to an Immersive Ad unit.
- Publishers may not misuse Roblox tools such as PolicyService API to deliver advertising content to users who are not allowed to see it, including users under the age of 13.
- Publishers may not use content in their experience to obscure required disclosures in a way that makes users believe they are engaging with non-advertising content.
- Publishers may not reuse or repurpose Roblox Immersive Ad content without express authorization from the advertiser.
Prohibited Advertising Content
Roblox requires compliance with the following advertising content requirements to create a safe and civil environment for our users age 13 and over who are eligible to see ads:
Child Endangerment
- Roblox has a zero-tolerance policy for endangering children.
- Ads may not contain content that depicts or promotes:
- Any predatory behavior, including attempting to befriend a child in order to manipulate and exploit them (i.e., grooming);
- Sexualizing children in any way;
- Engaging in sexual conversation with or soliciting sexual material from minors; or
- Sharing, requesting, or discussing child sexual exploitation imagery.
Threats of Violence
- Ads may not threaten others with real world harm or to encourage such threats, or to incite violence against people or property, including:
- Physical assault or violence;
- Sexual assault; or
- Property damage.
- Roblox may communicate with law enforcement agencies regarding credible threats of harm.
Bullying or Harassment
- Ads may not reference bullying, stalking, trolling, harassment, or intimidation on its platform.
- Ads may not depict, glorify, or promote such behavior. This includes:
- Singling out a user or group for ridicule or abuse; or
- Sexual harassment.
Suicide or Self-harm
- Ad content may not depict, glorify, or encourage suicide or self-injury.
- Ad content may not describe methods of suicide or self-injury.
Sexual Content
- Ads may not contain nudity, or reference sexually explicit or suggestive content.
- Ads may not reference or promote reproductive, contraceptive, or fertility products or services.
Violence or Gore
- Ads may not depict extreme violence or serious physical or psychological abuse, including:
- Animal abuse or torture;
- Realistic depictions of extreme gore; or
- Support or glorification of war crimes or human rights violations, including torture, modern slavery, or human trafficking.
Terrorism or Extremist Organizations
- Ads may not contain content that supports, glorifies, or promotes any terrorist or extremist organization and their actions, including:
- Depictions of or support for terrorist or extremist attacks or terrorist actors;
- Depictions of or support for the leaders of terrorist organizations;
- Depictions of the slogans, images, flags, or icons of terrorist organizations;
- Recruiting membership for a terrorist or violent organization, or encouraging others to leave Roblox to find such information; or
- Fundraising for terrorist or extremist organizations, people, or groups.
Illegal & Regulated Goods
- Illicit drugs or intoxication
- Ads may not promote or solicit the sale of illegal drugs or controlled substances.
- Ads may not depict intoxication, drug abuse or encourage users to abuse substances.
- Ads may not contain depictions of drug paraphernalia including pills, syringes, or smoking pipes.
- Medical
- Ads may not promote, depict or discourage pharmaceutical products, prescription drugs or medicines, medical devices, or medical procedures including reproductive healthcare or clinical trials.
- Ads may not promote, depict or discourage the consumption of prescription drugs, the use of medical devices, or participation in a medical procedure.
- Health or Diet
- Ads may not depict or promote weight loss products, steroids, weight management supplements, or eating disorders.
- Ads may not encourage people to change their real physical weight, including by using Before-and-After comparison images.
- Ads may not promote or solicit infant food products including milk substitutes and infant feeding implements.
- Body Alteration
- Ads may not depict or promote invasive cosmetic procedures.
- Ads may not promote body piercing services, permanent tattoos or permanent makeup, ultraviolet devices for skin tanning, skin bleaching devices or procedures.
- We do allow ads for hygiene products including, dental care, soap, hair care, and deodorant.
- We do allow ads for cosmetics such as skin care and non-permanent makeup.
- We prohibit any negative messaging about body types or physical attributes or comparing them in ad content, including using before-and-after comparison images.
- Tobacco
- Ads may not promote or solicit the sale of tobacco products or paraphernalia, including e-cigarettes, e-liquid, vapes, hookas, or other smokable products.
- Ads may not depict use of tobacco products or paraphernalia.
- Alcohol or related products
- Ads may not depict or promote or solicit the sale of alcohol products, paraphernalia, or consumption.
- Cannabis
- Ads may not depict, promote, or solicit the sale of cannabis or its byproducts, including but not limited to marijuana, THC, or CDB products.
- Ads may not promote or depict cannabis paraphernalia.
- Weapons
- Ads may not promote or solicit the sale of weapons such as knives, daggers, spears or swords in the real world.
- We do allow ads for knives as kitchen utensils.
- Ads may not promote or solicit the sale of guns, firearms, or paraphernalia in the real world.
- Ads may not promote or solicit the sale of bombs, fireworks, or explosives in the real world.
- Ads may not promote or solicit weapon-making instructions or schematics in the real world.
- Ads may not promote or solicit training programs for the use of weapons in the real world.
- Ads may not promote or solicit the sale of weapons such as knives, daggers, spears or swords in the real world.
- Gambling
- Ads may not promote casinos, gambling in the real world, or online gambling with real world currencies.
- Ads may not promote sports betting, sports books, or fantasy sports services.
- Ads may not promote participation in lotteries.
- Counterfeits & Piracy
- Ads may not promote or solicit the sale of counterfeit products or counterfeiting tools.
- Ads may not promote or solicit the sale of digital media piracy or media pirating services.
- Criminal Activity
- Ads may not promote products in the context of criminal activity, including cybercrimes.
- Examples include but are not limited to spray paint or glass etching for vandalism, spying tools for stalking, lock picks for trespassing.
- Ads may not depict or promote figures associated with criminal activity.
- Ads may not promote products in the context of criminal activity, including cybercrimes.
Real World Physically Dangerous Activities
- Ads may not depict or promote participation in activities in the real world that are specifically designed to create an extreme risk of physical harm to the participant offline. This includes but is not limited to:
- Physical challenge or stunt trends; or
- Dangerous misuse of fireworks
Martial Arts
- Ads may not promote martial arts training or events in the real world.
- Ads may not promote fighting sports training or events in the real world.
Discrimination, Hate Speech, or Profanity
- Ads may not demean, threaten, or attack individuals or groups, or encourage others to do so directly or indirectly, on the basis of their:
- Race, perceived race, or ethnicity;
- National origin;
- Sexual orientation;
- Gender, gender identity, or gender expression;
- Religion or religious affiliation or beliefs;
- Age;
- Physical or mental disability;
- Veteran status; or
- Familial status
- Ads may not discriminate against others based on their membership in the above groups. Examples of such content include:
- Experiences that imitate or suggest real world acts of discrimination;
- Avatar clothing associated with hate groups;
- Symbols and flags associated with discrimination; or
- Derogatory memes
- Ads may not include profanity or crude language, including through misspellings, special characters, foreign languages, or other means of evading profanity detection.
Dating & Romance
- Ads may not promote online dating services, romance coaching, or relationship counseling
Real World Tragic Events
- Ads may not depict specific real-world tragic events; mock the victims of such events; or support, glorify, or promote the perpetrators.
- Ads may not offer products or services related to specific real-world tragic events in order to capitalize on these events for commercial purposes.
- Real world tragic events include:
- Mass shootings and domestic terrorism;
- Specific, real world, natural disaster events; or
- Human or civil rights violations
Extortion and Blackmail
- Ads may not be used to extort or blackmail individual users or target groups.
- Ads may not promote or solicit the sale of tools or techniques to extort or blackmail.
Malicious Software
- Ads may not promote spyware, malware or software that can be used to damage or gain access to another user’s devices or information.
Politics
- Ads may not depict or promote political content, including political figures, parties, ideologies, ballot propositions, candidacies, or voter registration instructions.
- Ads may not be used to advocate for or against a public policy or government administration.
Religion
- Ads may not depict or promote religious content, including icons, holy texts, beliefs, practices, services, or organizations.
- Ads with content demeaning a targeted religious group or belief will be considered Discrimination.
Paranormal, astrological, or occult
- Ads may not depict or promotive services in the real world associated with paranormal activity, astrological sign readings, exorcisms, or the occult.
- Ads may not depict or promote services or products in the real world for fortune telling, interfacing with the deceased, clairvoyance, or mind reading.
Funeral Services
- Ads may not promote funeral services or funeral-related products including caskets or burial tools.
Multi-level marketing
- Ads may not promote participation in a multi-level marketing campaign or recruitment to an organization.
- Ads may not solicit users to become influencers in marketing campaigns.
- Ads may not promote the purchase of products affiliated with multi-level marketing campaigns.
Financial Services
- Ads may not promote financial products or services, including but not limited to:
- banking, lending, consumer credit, leasing, or investing;
- individual securities;
- digital wallets;
- payment installment plans or buy-now-pay-later providers;
- insurance;
- tax preparation or tax filing;
- credit monitoring or credit repair services;
- products that require a credit check;
- accounting or budget management; or
- debt consolidation.
- We do allow ads that promote gift cards or loyalty programs for non-financial end products that are compliant with all other Advertising Standards.
Cryptocurrencies & NFTs
- Ads may not promote specific cryptocurrencies or specific blockchain-based assets.
- Ads may not promote non-fungible tokens (NFTs), NFT publishing or NFT trading platforms.
- Ads may not promote digital wallets for cryptocurrencies or blockchain-based assets.
- Ads may not promote cryptocurrency or blockchain asset exchanges or portfolio management services.
Animals & Insects
- Ads may not promote or solicit the sale or adoption of animals, or the sale of animal body parts or byproducts.
- We do allow promotion of products for animals such as processed pet food, pet accessories, and pet care services.
- Ads may not promote or solicit the sale of insects, or their body parts or byproducts.
- Ads may not promote or solicit pest control or insecticide products or services.
Charitable causes
- Ads may not promote or solicit donations for an external charitable cause
- Ads may not claim that a transaction on Roblox is associated with an off-platform fundraiser
Mature media
- Ads may not promote or solicit media inappropriate for underage audiences, including:
- R-rated movies and their equivalents;
- Music with explicit lyric warnings;
- Mature-rated games; or
- Other media with a warning of explicit content.
Investigative or Legal Services
- Ads may not promote or solicit services including public records lookups, personal investigative services, or private eyes; or
- Ads may not promote or solicit legal services.
