What are screenshots on Roblox?
A screenshot is a way to capture and save a snapshot of what is displayed on your device screen within an experience. When you take a screenshot, we remove the in-experience UI.
Screenshots are available for all users and supported on desktop and mobile devices. Users can toggle this feature on or off at any time from their in-experience controls.
How do I take screenshots on Roblox?
While in an experience, follow these steps:
- Go to the Hamburger menu on the upper left of your screen
- Select Captures from the menu
- Within experiences, there will now be a capture icon on the right side of your screen:
- Tap the capture icon to take a screenshot within an experience
- You can select “Capture” from the hamburger menu at any time to add or remove the capture icon from the screen.
How can I share a screenshot with my friends?
Sharing is available for 13+ users on mobile devices only. To share a screenshot while in an experience, follow these steps:
- Go to the Roblox menu on the upper left of your screen
- Select Captures from the top menu
- From the Captures menu, your captured screenshots will appear
- Tap on a screenshot to open up a carousel, allowing you to closely view and select the screenshot you would like to share
- Once you’ve found the screenshot you want to share, tap on the share icon:
- A share screen menu will appear allowing you to select your preferred social platform and/or SMS the screenshot to another friend
- Once the image is shared, an invite link will be added to take the recipient to the experience session that you are in
- Note: Not all devices and/or apps support including both a screenshot and an invite link, so results may vary
If you are no longer in the experience when the invite link is clicked, the recipient will enter the experience with a message that you are no longer there.
When a screenshot is taken, we remove the in-experience UI and the names above any avatars within the frame of the screenshot.
Where can I find my gallery of screenshots?
The gallery can be accessed by starting any experience. Once you have entered the experience, follow these steps:
- Go to the Roblox menu on the upper left of your screen
- Select Captures from the top menu
- From the Captures menu, tap on any captured screenshots to view them in a carousel
How do I save a screenshot to my device storage?
Screenshots are saved to your Roblox app storage. To save a screenshot to your device storage while in an experience, follow these steps:
- Go to the Roblox menu on the upper left of your screen
- Select Captures from the top menu
- From the Captures menu, your captured screenshots will appear
- Tap on a screenshot to open up a carousel, allowing you to closely view your screenshots
- Once you’ve found the screenshot you want to save, tap on the save icon to save the screenshot to your camera roll or the "Pictures" folder on desktop.
How do I delete a screenshot?
To delete a screenshot while in an experience, follow these steps:
- Go to the Roblox menu on the upper left of your screen
- Select Captures from the top menu
- From the Captures menu, your captured screenshots will appear
- Tap on a screenshot to open up a carousel, allowing you to closely view your screenshots
- Once you’ve found the screenshot you want to delete, tap on the trash can icon to delete the screenshot
Can I turn off the feature?
Yes, this feature can be toggled on or off at any time in the Roblox menu.
What devices will this feature support?
Screenshots are currently available on desktop and mobile devices. They will be available on more devices in the future.
When I share the screenshot, will it be linkable back to the Roblox experience?
A user can share a screenshot and a link to join them in the experience. Not all social platforms support sharing a screenshot and an invite link at the same time; results may vary.
What happens to my screenshots if I delete the Roblox application from my device?
If you delete the Roblox application, all screenshots in your gallery will also be deleted because the captures are stored in the Roblox application storage unless you have saved them to your device camera roll or the "Pictures" folder on desktop.
Safety and Privacy
What safety tools are in place for users when they take and share screenshots?
When a screenshot is taken, we remove all Roblox aliases of any avatars that are within the frame of the screenshot. There is no voice or audio that is recorded in the screenshot either.
What happens if someone takes and shares inappropriate content from Roblox?
We have our Community Standards to help ensure that everyone feels safe and welcome in our shared adventure. These standards apply to all actions on Roblox and with other users on Roblox.
