2-Step Verification is an additional layer of security for your account. This is especially helpful in mitigating attackers from getting access into your account in case your password is stolen.
2-Step Verification Methods
There are various 2-Step Verification methods that Roblox offers. At this time, you can only choose a single 2-Step Verification method at a time.
To enable 2-Step Verification on your account:
- Log into your Roblox account
- If you can’t log in, try these steps for recovering your password
- Go to Account Settings
- Browser: Find the gear icon in the upper right corner of the site
- Mobile App: Find the three dots icon and tap on the gear icon
- Go to the Security Tab
- Turn on the toggle for your desired 2-Step Verification method and follow the instructions on-screen. Instruction will vary depending on your choice of 2-Step Verification
- IMPORTANT: You must have a verified email address on your account to enable 2-Step Verification
Set up 2-Step Verification by Email Address
Once you enable 2-Step Verification by Email, you will be asked to enter a code every time that you log in with your password.
You can find the code in the inbox of the verified email you have on your Roblox account. Once you enter the code on your Roblox screen, you will be successfully logged in.
Please note that if you log in via Email OTP or passkey, your 2-Step Verification will be bypassed.
Set up 2-Step Verification by Authenticator App
To enable 2-Step Verification by Authenticator App, you must have an Authenticator app on your mobile device. If you don’t have an Authenticator App, you can download one from the App Store. Some apps you can choose are Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Duo, Twilio Authy.
Once you enable 2-Step Verification by Authenticator App, you will be asked to enter a code every time that you log in with your password or login with Email OTP.
You can find the code in your chosen Authenticator App on your mobile device. Once you enter the code on your Roblox screen, you will be successfully logged in.
Note that if you log in via passkey, your 2-Step Verification will be bypassed.
Set up 2-Step Verification by Security Keys
To enable 2-Step Verification by Security Keys, you must also have 2-Step Verification by Authenticator App enabled on your account. This is because security keys are only supported on web browsers.
Your security key can be a physical key like Yubikey 5, Google Titan Security Key, or it can be a biometric method managed by your device hardware like facial recognition or fingerprint scanner. Your security key option will vary depending on what browser, operating system, and device you’re logging in from.
Note that if you log in via passkey, your 2-Step Verification will be bypassed.
2-Step Verification with a Second Device
If you receive a 2-Step Verification by second device prompt upon login, you will be asked to use a mobile device on which your Roblox account is already logged into to approve or reject that login attempt. You will have the ability to review details about the login attempt like device type, regional location, IP address, date and time.
Selecting another way to verify your login attempt
If you are challenged with 2-Step Verification with a second device, you will have the option to verify your login in other ways.
Email Me a Code
If you have a verified email address on your account, you will see an “Email Me a Code” option. Choosing this option will send a unique code to your email address. Enter this code on your Roblox screen to successfully log in. Remember, do not share this code with anyone.
Backup Code
You also have the option to enter your saved Backup Code to successfully log in. Remember, do not share this code with anyone.
Contact Support
If you do not see any options that you can use to successfully log in, contact Customer Support.
We highly recommend that you add a verified email address to your account. This will help you in case you would like to verify your login attempt with an email code instead of 2-Step Verification with a second device.
Login Attempt Denied
If you receive a 2-Step Verification with a second device prompt, but did not attempt to log in, then deny the login attempt.
This means that someone might have your password and is using it to log into your account. We recommend that you change your password to help secure your account.
Login Attempt Expired
If you wait too long to approve or deny the login attempt, it will expire. Simply retry the login attempt.
