When you create a Roblox account, the age you select helps us know what content to show you on Roblox. As you get older, certain features become available. Roblox will send you and your linked parent (if applicable) a message when the age on your account becomes nine, thirteen and eighteen describing some of the changes that will be made to your account.
Under Age 9 and 9-13
Users under the age of 13 need parent permission to access certain chat features. Users under the age of 9 also need parent permission to access experiences with content maturity “Moderate,” which may contain things like moderate violence or moderate crude humor.
Ages 13-17
Users over the age of 13 can access certain features on Roblox, such as:
- Adding their email or phone number to their Roblox account
- Direct messaging other users on Roblox
- Using their phone number to find and connect with friends on Roblox
- Using voice chat after verifying a phone number
- People You May Know suggestions
- Becoming eligible for Roblox-served advertisements
In most regions, after a user turns 13, their parents will no longer be able to manage their privacy settings, and spend and screen time limits will no longer apply. In addition, their parents will no longer receive spending-related notifications, and users will be able to add friends and be added by friends to group chats without parent permission.
Age 17
When a user turns 17, they become eligible for accessing Restricted content if they complete ID verification.
Age 18+
When a user turns 18, their account is automatically unlinked from their parent. In addition, other settings, such as their Ads Privacy Settings, will be updated.
Default settings and feature availability may vary by region.
