The Roblox moderation system will block accounts from Roblox that violate the Terms of Use (ToU) or Community Standards. The length of time an account is blocked depends on the severity of the behavior. Here are the levels:
- Warning - A user can get back into their account right away if they agree to the ToU. This level is sometimes used to provide users with feedback about their creations.
- 1 day ban - 24 hours from the time the moderation was initiated.
- 3 day ban - 72 hours from the time the moderation was initiated.
- 7 day ban - 1 week from the time the moderation was initiated.
- Deletion - The account has been closed and can not automatically be reopened.
The time zone shown on moderation messages is US Central (UTC-6 Standard, UTC-5 Daylight savings).
Moderation Messages
Here are examples of the kinds of moderation messages sent by the Roblox moderation team.
Inappropriate Behavior Messages
- "Do not post about your moderation actions, or additional moderation actions may be taken against your account. If you would like to discuss your bans, please use the Appeals system as described on your ban report."
- Moderation actions are not allowed to be discussed on Roblox.
- "The only links you are allowed to post on Roblox are roblox.com links, youtube.com links, twitter.com links, and twitch.tv links. No other links are allowed. Posting any other links will result in further moderation actions."
- Outside of the designated social media links on profiles, you are not allowed to share any links other than the 4 listed here.
- "Your user name is inappropriate for Roblox. For further assistance, please contact us via the Support Form."
- Roblox has found your name to be in violation of the Terms of Service.
- "Do not repeatedly post or spam chat or content in Roblox."
- You were caught flooding the chat with either the same message repeatedly or placing random characters repeatedly. An example of this would be, "fidiuaciuabiucbiubiw."
- "Do not ask for or give out personal, real-life, or private information on Roblox."
- Preventing personally identifiable information from being released is a top priority of Roblox, therefore any personally identifiable information is not allowed on Roblox.
- "Do not create accounts just for the purpose of breaking the rules."
- Roblox has found that the account was created with the primary intent of breaking the Terms of Service.
- "Dating, Sexting, or other inappropriate behavior is not acceptable on Roblox."
- Roblox is not a dating site. Sexually explicit chat between users is not tolerated on Roblox. Roblox also does not allow conversations requesting boyfriends/girlfriends, or talking about any form of romantic relationship, including weddings.
- "This content is not appropriate for Roblox. Do not chat, post, or otherwise discuss inappropriate topics on Roblox."
- This could include drugs/alcohol, sexual innuendos/references, or anything else that is not considered to be age appropriate for Roblox.
- "Do not swear, use profanity or otherwise say inappropriate things in Roblox."
- Profanity and swearing are not allowed on Roblox.
Harassment/Discriminatory Messages
- "Roblox does not permit discriminatory speech, content, or actions based on race or ethnic origin, national origin, religion or religious affiliation, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation."
- Discriminatory speech or content is material that attacks a person or group based on attributes such as race, religion, ethnic origin, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
- "The derogatory language you are using here is not permitted on Roblox"
- Misogyny is the hatred of, contempt for, or prejudice against women or girls. Misogyny is manifested in numerous ways, including social exclusion, sex discrimination, hostility, androcentrism, patriarchy, male privilege, belittling of women, violence against women, and sexual objectification.
- "Do not harass other users. Do not say inappropriate or mean things about others on Roblox."
- Harassment is targeted behavior toward a specific individual or group, using degrading or humiliating language.
Scamming Messages
- "Scamming is a violation of the Terms of Service. Do not continue to scam on Roblox."
- Roblox has determined from the evidence provided to them that you were attempting to scam another player or group of players.
- "Posting information that claims to be able to exploit Roblox is a violation of our Terms of Service. If you continue to do so, your account will be subject to further moderation actions."
- An exploit is a piece of software, a chunk of data, or a sequence of commands that takes advantage of a bug or vulnerability to cause unintended or unanticipated behavior to occur on computer software, hardware, or something electronic.
- "Do not create games that offer Robux as a prize. These kinds of games are considered scams, as there is not an official system to guarantee a prize. If you persist in creating these games, your account will be subject to additional moderation actions."
- Roblox cannot guarantee a payout by a game to a player. Promising a payout of Robux to anyone under any pretense is considered a scam.
- "Advertising Robux payouts is prohibited as there is not a system that ensures specific rules are followed or that the offered prize is granted. We realize you did not intend to scam, but please do not offer these on Roblox."
- You are not allowed to promise Robux to any players under any circumstance, as this is considered to be a scam.
- "Impersonating Roblox staff is a violation of our rules. If you continue to do so, your account will be subject to additional moderation actions."
- The Roblox admin team is limited to those hired by Roblox, and their jobs can vary from Marketing to Moderation. Impersonating the prestigious title of Roblox admin is considered scamming: "I work for Roblox." "I’m a Roblox admin." etc.
- "This account has been closed due to a violation of our Terms of Service. Do not create games intended to scam other players."
- If you receive this message, you’ve created a game in which a GUI is present that stores password information of a player in attempts to hijack the account.
- "Do not create games intended to scam other players!"
- Do not create games where the intention is to scam other players.
Real Life Concern Messages
- "Please do not create games, shirts, or post comments about this tragic event. We understand that you intended this to be a respectful memorial, but we can't risk having other players behave in an inappropriate manner in or around the content you’re posting."
- Do not upload posts/games/assets created as a memorial/remembrance such as large-scale natural disasters or attacks, i.e. 9/11, mass shootings, tsunamis, etc. We recognize that it may not have been a form of disrespect but we can’t risk other players using these events in a disrespectful/inappropriate manner.
Image Content Messages
- "This image is not appropriate for Roblox. Please review our rules and upload only appropriate content."
- The image file includes something that is not appropriate for Roblox. This could include drugs/alcohol, sexual innuendos/references, or anything else that is not considered to be age appropriate for Roblox.
- "Do not create ads that claim to pay players for joining your group. Because Roblox cannot enforce these deals, they are a violation of the rules. Further attempts to create these ads will result in additional moderation actions on your account."
- Roblox does not allow groups to promise users Robux or items in exchange for joining a group.
- "We're sorry, but due to a request from the copyright holder, we cannot permit this content on Roblox."
- An item is removed because we received a notice from the official copyright holder stating that they did not give permission to use the asset in question and requested its removal.
- "Please do not upload personal photos to Roblox."
- Preventing personally identifiable information from being released is a top priority of Roblox, therefore Selfies/family portraits, and any other personally identifiable information is not allowed on Roblox.
- "The only links that you are allowed to share in are roblox.com, youtube.com, twitter.com, and twitch.tv. Posting other links, even in images, will result in further moderation actions."
- Roblox only allows certain links to be posted on the site. Do not upload images with links to other websites that are not approved.
- "Please do not create ads which encourage players to attempt to click them multiple times. We understand that you want as many people to visit your place as possible; however, these ads are not permitted on Roblox."
- Do not create ads with the purpose of luring people falsely to a game, group or catalog item. An example of this: "Click the green square 50x for a free dominus."
- "Dating and shipping images are not permitted on Roblox."
- Roblox is not a dating website, and we do not allow the posting of images where there is any hint of a romantic relationship.
- "This image is too revealing for Roblox. Please edit this image to make it more age appropriate."
- You have uploaded an article of clothing that is too revealing for Roblox, and it needs to be edited to be age appropriate before re-uploading.
- "Creating items with the intent of trying to get around Roblox's rules is not permitted."
- This message is sent out when the moderation team finds an article of clothing that is layered to break rules. This could include but is not limited to changing the textures to hide inappropriate slogans or images.
- "This content is not appropriate for Roblox. Content or avatars created to simulate nudity or underwear/undergarments are not permitted."
- Clothing which includes underwear and diapers, and/or simulate skin without clothing will result in this message.
- "Clothing featuring red armbands are not permitted on Roblox."
- Due to the use of red armbands by the Nazis during the World Wars, Roblox does not allow the use of red armbands or any type of resemblance.
- "Adult content is not tolerated on Roblox!"
- Explicit adult content that is not allowed on Roblox was uploaded.
Audio Content Messages
- "Unfortunately, we are not able to play this audio file, even after opening it with VLC. Please re-encode your file and try uploading it again."
- The audio file is not able to be listened to through our moderation system due to an encoding error with the upload, or the file type is not one that we accept. Changing the file type to one of our accepted file types should allow the audio file to be listened to.
- "This audio file contains content that is inappropriate for Roblox."
- The audio file includes content that is not appropriate for Roblox. This could include drugs/alcohol, sexual innuendos/references, or anything else that is not considered to be age appropriate for Roblox.
- "Do not upload excessively loud audio to Roblox."
- Do not upload any audio files that have abnormally high-volume levels with the intent of causing harm or shock to another user.
- "We're sorry, but audio featuring your voice or other personal information is not permitted on Roblox."
- This is done for the safety of the user. Preventing personally identifiable information from being released is a top priority of Roblox.
- "Uploading distorted audio files are not permitted. Please make sure your files can be easily and clearly heard."
- Audio files that are slowed down, sped up, or pitch changed to a level to where the lyrics cannot be heard fall under this category. As a general rule of thumb, if you cannot understand it, no one else can either.
- "Adult content is not tolerated on Roblox."
- Explicit adult content is not allowed on Roblox.

- My moderation message does not appear on the list above.
Not all moderation fit into the above categories. Sometimes the moderator will customize the message for the situation. - I am not sure what my moderation means or my moderation was wrong.
In these cases you can appeal your account moderation by following these steps. Make sure you include your username and your question. - I got a warning, am I on the road to deletion?
Not likely, Roblox only deletes accounts for the most serious violations or people who are maliciously acting on our community. - Will this impact my ability to DevEx?
Roblox does not pre-approve or deny anyone for DevEx, but in most cases no. We always look at intent and effect when deciding on DevEx. - Do you use AI for your moderation?
Roblox uses AI to pre-screen content such as text, images, and audio but only human moderators will take action on accounts. Roblox employs a team of over 400 human moderators to review reports and take action on accounts.
