On Roblox, your username is your unique account identifier and can be changed in your account settings, with each change requiring Robux. However, your Display Name is a customizable name that you can change for free to update how you appear in experiences and on your profile.
Roblox is committed to fostering a safe environment for players of all ages. To help achieve this, all text on the platform, including chat and usernames, is continuously filtered to block inappropriate content in accordance to Roblox Community Standards.
How do I change the username?
- Log into your account
(If you can't log in, try these steps for recovering your password.) - Go to account Settings
- Browser - find the gear-icon located at the upper-right corner of the site
- Mobile Apps - find the three dots icon for More
- Select the Account Info tab
- Select the Change Username button (pencil icon)
- Enter your new username
- Enter your current Roblox password
- Select the Buy button
You can now sign in with the new username and current password.
What happens to my past usernames?
Your previous usernames can be viewed in your Settings, Profile, and through People search. You can change back to a past username by following the same steps above. Keep in mind that changing back still requires Robux.
Things to know before changing your username
The following options are not available:
- You cannot use a name belonging to another account
- You cannot swap usernames with your alt account
- Discounts are not available for simple changes, such as making a name capitalized
- Original account creation date will carry over to your new username
- Other players can see your previous usernames through People search
