Trading lets you swap items with other players. Instead of buying an item from the Marketplace, you offer one of your items (and, if you want, some Robux) to another player in exchange for an item of theirs. If you both agree, the trade happens instantly.
This guide explains what you can trade, how to start, and how to stay safe.
What is a Limited item?
A Limited is a collectible avatar item. The item was first sold like a normal item, and later it went off-sale, so the only way to get one now is to buy or trade for it from another player.
There are two kinds:
- Limited: First sold like a normal item, with no strict limit on how many were made. Once it goes off-sale, it becomes collectible.
- Limited U ("Limited Unique"): Sold in a fixed number of copies. Each copy has a unique serial number (like #45 of 100), so you know exactly which copy you own.
You can spot either kind by the "Limited" or "Limited U" tag under the item's picture on the Marketplace or on the item's details page.
Which items can I trade?
You can trade:
- Limited and Limited U items that were created by Roblox
- Robux (added to a trade, within the limits explained below)
To check if you can trade an item, open the item’s details page and look at the Tradable field: Yes means you can trade it.
How do I get a Limited to trade?
You can get Limiteds in two ways:
- Buy one from Roblox while it is still on sale. Open the item's details page and select Buy. Popular Limiteds can sell out quickly.
- Buy one from another player. On a Limited's details page, scroll to the resellers list under the price chart and buy from the lowest price you are happy with.
Once you own a Limited, you can keep it, wear it, resell it for Robux, or trade it.
How many trades can I make?
- With Roblox Plus: You can make unlimited trades.
- Limited-time trade promotion: For a limited time, users in the United States can make 2 free trades each month. To make unlimited trades, subscribe to Roblox Plus.
Your free trades reset at the start of each month. If you reach your monthly limit, you can subscribe to Roblox Plus for unlimited trading, or wait until your free trades reset.
Before you can trade
To send or receive a trade, both players must:
- Complete an age check. All users must complete an age check to trade. This is required to send, accept, and counter trades, and applies to everyone — with or without Roblox Plus.

Have a Roblox Plus subscription. You need an active Roblox Plus subscription (or a legacy Roblox Premium subscription) to trade.
- For a limited time, users in the United States can also make a few free trades each month without Roblox Plus.
- Turn on trading and inventory visibility. Go to Account Settings > Privacy & content restrictions > Trading & inventory and turn on inventory visibility and trading.
- Be in a supported region. Trading is currently not available for users in South Korea.
How to make a trade
- Go to the profile page of the player you want to trade with.
- Select the More button (the three dots …) in the top-right corner of their profile box.
- Select Trade Items from the menu.
- Build your offer in the trade window:
- Your Offer: Choose the item(s) you want to give.
- Your Request: Choose the item(s) you want to receive.
- Select Make Offer to send it. The other player gets a message and can accept, decline, or counter.
Adding Robux to a trade
You can add Robux to a trade to make it more balanced. When Robux is included, two rules apply:
- A 30% fee is taken from any Robux in a trade once the offer is accepted.
- The Robux you add cannot be more than 50% of the value of the items you are offering (after the fee).
- Example: If your item is worth 300 Robux, you can add up to 150 Robux (after the fee).
Trades are final. Once a trade is complete, it cannot be reversed, refunded, or disputed. Roblox will not undo it or return your items or Robux for any reason. Check every trade carefully before you accept.
The trade quality filter
When you start trading, other players may send you offers. Some offers may be unfair or unwanted. The trade quality filter helps by hiding low-quality offers so you only see reasonable ones.
To set it, go to Account Settings > Privacy & content restrictions > Trading & inventory and choose a Trade quality filter level:
- None: Receive all trade offers.
- Low, Medium, or High: Set your minimum quality. Offers below the level you choose are hidden automatically.
You can change the filter at any time. This is an easy way to reduce unfair and unwanted trade offers, especially when you are new.
Managing your trades
Select Trade in the left menu on any Roblox page. Use the Trade Type menu to switch between:
- Received: Offers sent to you.
- Sent: Offers you sent.
- Completed: Trades that finished.
- Closed: Trades that expired or were declined.
Responding to an offer
Open your Received trades to review an offer. You can:
- Accept: Agree to the trade as it is.
- Decline: Say no to the trade.
- Counter: Change the terms, then select Make Offer to send your new version back.
Trade safely
Only trade using the official Trade feature. Never agree to deals where you send first and "trust" the other player, and never trade for real money, accounts, or items outside Roblox.
