What is Voice Chat?
Voice Chat is a feature that allows people to communicate on Roblox as naturally as they communicate in the physical world.
Developers can choose to integrate Voice Chat in their experiences, and therefore it may not be supported when playing certain experiences.
Users who are 13 and older and have gotten an age check are eligible to use Voice Chat with users of similar age groups. They will then be able to use Voice Chat in any Roblox experience that supports it.
Where is Voice Chat available?
Voice Chat is currently available to all 13+ age checked users in these countries: Algeria, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Barbados, Belarus, Belgium, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, British Indian Ocean Territory, British Virgin Islands, Bulgaria, Canada, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Falkland Islands, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Georgia, Gibraltar, Greece, Grenada, Guatemala, Guernsey, Guyana, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jersey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macao, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Monaco, Montserrat, Morocco, Netherlands, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Philippines, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, San Marino, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turks and Caicos Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, Ukraine, United States, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vatican City, and Venezuela.
Users not in these countries should use ID Verification to enable Voice Chat.
How can I turn on Voice Chat?
Eligible 13+ users who have verified their ID or completed facial age estimation can opt in to use Voice Chat within experiences. You will then be able to use Voice Chat in any Roblox experience that supports it. For detailed steps, see our How do I turn on Voice Chat? help article.
If you do not see the Voice Chat toggle in-experience settings after completing ID verification or facial age estimation, the feature may not be available in your region.
Voice Chat is available on Desktop, Mobile, VR, Playstation and Xbox. Users on Playstation can “Join Voice” from in-experience settings.
How can I mute my microphone in an experience?
You can mute and unmute your microphone in experiences by tapping on the microphone icon located in the upper left side of the screen.
When muted, the microphone icon will include a red slash to indicate your device microphone is currently muted.

Tap the icon to unmute, and the microphone icon base will turn solid, indicating that your microphone is no longer muted. When you speak, the green graphic will animate within the microphone. A red dot on your microphone indicates that Roblox is recording audio.
How can I disconnect from Voice Chat?
You can disconnect from Voice Chat by going to the in-game settings and toggling Voice Chat from Connected to Disconnected.
How can I tell who has Voice Chat?
| 13+ users with voice chat enabled will see a speaker icon next to the user name and above the avatar of other users that have voice chat enabled. |
How can I Mute, Block, or Report Abuse on Users in Voice Chat?

You can mute another user in a voice chat experience by clicking the speaker icon that will appear over their avatar’s head or next to their name in the Roblox menu. Muting only applies to voice chat and not text chat. It will only last while you are in the experience session. To unmute a user, access the Roblox menu and click the speaker icon next to their username. |
Blocking another user
You can block another user in a Voice Chat experience to prevent them from engaging with you in Voice Chat or Experience Text Chat. Please see our help article here: How to Block Another User. |

If someone is violating the Terms of Use or Community Standards, use the Report Abuse feature to file a report with our moderation team. You can now specify “Voice Chat” when using the Report Abuse feature. See our help article here: How to Report Rule Violations.

What is voice data used for?
Roblox uses voice data for safety and moderation purposes, and for making improvements to our features and services, as described below. Safety and moderation uses include, but are not limited to, moderator evaluation of abuse reports, training and improving automatic safety detection systems, and measuring overall safety of the platform. Please see the Privacy Policy for more information.
Depending on your privacy settings, Roblox may also use voice data to improve our products. For example, Roblox could use voice data for speech to text transcription. You can turn this off at any time in your privacy settings.
Roblox does not use voice data for any advertising or marketing purposes.
How do I manage usage of my voice data?
Roblox uses your voice data for safety and moderation. Depending on your privacy settings, Roblox may also use voice data to improve our products. To manage this, go to Settings → Privacy & content maturity → Communication → Voice data usage, and update your “Voice data for product improvements” setting.
Is my data going to be shared with anyone?
We do not sell or share your voice data with third parties for any advertising or marketing purposes.
We are constantly improving automated abuse detection and moderation systems, and as part of this effort, we may collaborate with third-party service providers and share recordings or transcripts of the recordings. Roblox evaluates all of its service providers through a stringent vetting process, including review of their data handling practices.
Can I use Voice Chat without voice recording?
To help guarantee your safety and the safety of the overall community, all voice interactions are subject to the same reporting and moderation systems, including voice recording.
