We've launched a new and improved Roblox app that you can download through the Microsoft Store! This updated version was built to give you a smoother and more reliable experience so you can enjoy your favorite games with improved stability.
To keep playing on your Windows computer, you will need to download the new app. Here’s a quick guide to everything you need to know.
Why do I have to download a new app?
We want to give our players the best possible experience. This new app is more stable (which means fewer crashes!) and allows us to bring you great new features in the future. It’s a necessary step to ensure Roblox runs great on Windows for years to come.
How can I tell which version is the new one?
Here’s how you can tell the difference:
- In the Microsoft Store: The new app is named "Roblox - Windows". The old version is just called "Roblox".
- On your computer: The new Roblox app has a blue icon, while the old version has a light gray icon. Both are named “Roblox.”
Will my account and Robux transfer to the new app?
Yes, absolutely! All of your progress, friends, Robux, and inventory items are completely safe and tied to your Roblox account. You will just need to log back in with your usual Roblox username and password after you install the new app. If you have any trouble, you can always use our account recovery tool.
Why do I need to link an Xbox account now?
When you download games from the Microsoft Store, they use your Microsoft account, which includes an Xbox profile. Linking your Roblox and Xbox accounts is a one-time step that connects you to the system. It's a standard requirement for games on the Microsoft Store and has the benefit of making it easier to play with your Xbox friends on Roblox! You can learn more about it on the official Xbox help article.
Should I uninstall the old Roblox app?
Yes. Once you have the new app installed and you've successfully logged in, the old one won't be needed and will eventually stop working. You can safely uninstall it to avoid confusion and free up space on your device. For instructions, see this Microsoft support page on how to uninstall programs.
