Build is a new way to make your own Roblox game right from your phone. Just describe the game you want in your own words, and Build's AI creates a playable game for you in real time. You don't need any coding or game-design experience – if you can describe it, you can build it. Want to change something? Just tell Build what to adjust, and keep going until it feels right.
Availability
Build is rolling out gradually, starting with Android mobile devices in New Zealand in its initial testing. Availability varies by country, and while we're bringing it to more regions over time, it may not be available in your area yet. Keep an eye on official Roblox announcements for the latest updates.
Who can use Build
Build is available to players who meet all of these:
- Aged 9 or older
- Have completed an age check on their account
- Are in a region where Build is available
- On an Android mobile device
If your account is set to age 9 or older, you'll see the Build tab and be asked to complete an age check to unlock Build. If your account is set to under 9, the Build tab won't appear.
Don't see the Build tab? Check that you're in a supported region and that your account is age checked age 9 or older, then close and reopen the Roblox app.
See the tab but can't use Build yet? Complete the age check when Build prompts you, or finish it in your account settings, then reopen Build.
How to create a game with Build
- Open the Build tab. Open the Roblox app on your phone and tap the Build tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Describe your game. Type what you'd like to make. The more detail you give, the better the result. For example: "A game where I collect coins and buy speed upgrades."
- Let Build create it. Tap Send and watch your game come to life. Keep the app open while it builds. If it stops before finishing, type "please continue" in the chat to keep going.
- Play and improve it. Tap Playtest to try your game. To change something, just describe it in the chat. For example, "Make the coins bigger" or "Slow the game down." If the result isn't what you pictured, add more detail and try again. Keep refining as long as you have free AI usage left.
- Share with friends (optional). Tap Share > Get Playtest Link to let a few friends try your game privately before you publish.
- Publish. When you're happy with it, tap Publish. Your game runs a quick safety check and then goes live on your profile.
Tip: After publishing, keep making changes inside the Build chat so your game stays a Build game.
How AI usage works
Build is free to start, with no subscription required. Pricing may change as the feature develops.
Each day you get a set amount of AI usage, shown as a progress bar in the app. Every message you send, including changes and follow-ups, uses part of that daily allowance, which resets the next day. Playing and testing your game doesn't use any of it.
When you reach your daily limit, you can:
- Wait for your free usage to reset the next day, or
- Buy more usage with Robux to keep creating right away.
To keep going without interruptions, turn on automatic top-ups to buy more usage with Robux as you need it, and set a daily spend limit to control how much you spend. If you don't have enough Robux, Build will ask if you'd like to buy more.
If you run out while a game is still generating, that game finishes first — you won't lose your progress.
Getting your game discovered
Once your Build game is published, it's available to players aged 16 and older worldwide, with some regional exceptions.
- Moments. You can add your game to Moments by recording a short video while you playtest it, using the capture feature. This is a great way to show players what your game is about.
More discovery features are on the way in future updates.
Editing your Build game in Roblox Studio
You can open and edit a Build game in Roblox Studio, but part of what makes Build easy is that your game gets an automatic Moderate rating, so you can publish without extra steps.
If you change your game beyond prompting (for example, by adding custom code in Studio), it loses that automatic rating. To publish after that, you'll need to fill out the content/maturity questionnaire yourself, like any other Studio game.
To keep the automatic rating and the simple publishing flow, make all your changes in the Build chat.
Frequently asked questions
What kinds of games can I make?
Build can create both 2D and 3D games. Simpler games, like clickers, arcade, and collect-and-score, tend to turn out best right now, and Build keeps getting better over time.
Why won't Build make the game I described?
All Build games must follow our Restricted Content Policy and Community Standards, so some requests can't be created – for example, content that isn't allowed for your account's age, or games based on characters or brands owned by others.
The AI made something I find inappropriate. What should I do?
If it happened in your own Build session, use the Report Issue button in Build so our team can review it and improve the AI. If you saw it in someone else's published game, use the Report Abuse button on that game's page. We take all reports seriously.
Why is my game available only to older players?
New Build games are set for players aged 16 and older by default. If your game qualifies, you can apply through the Roblox Select process so players aged 9–15 can play it, which includes a content review — visit the Creator Hub to learn how. Because of their rating, Build games can't be made available to Roblox Kids (ages 5–8).
Why won't my game publish?
Before a game goes live, Build runs a quick safety check. If something doesn't pass, you'll see a message explaining what to fix. Make the change in the Build chat and tap Publish again. Most publishing issues can be fixed this way without contacting support.
My game was removed, or I received a warning. Can I appeal?
When you publish a Build game, you're responsible for its content, the same as any game on Roblox. If your game was removed, check your email for a moderation notice. You can appeal using the link in your notification, or by going to roblox.com/support and submitting an appeal with your username and game name. Our team will review it.
I was charged Robux but my game didn't generate. What can I do?
First, check your creations. If a game was still generating when this happened, it usually finishes and appears there, so you may not have lost anything. If the game truly didn't generate, contact Roblox Support with your username, the date and time, and any error message you saw, and we'll look into it.
